Are You Too Busy for a Relationship? Part I.

All relationships take time!  So in a romantic relationship especially requires time and attention.  You know this.  However, are you fully prepared to make the time you need to give to a relationship?

Let me tell you about one of my client’s complaints.  “These women are too busy.  It will be a month before we can find time for a date!”  Part of me is wondering if it’s something about my client or if it is about many of us having a very busy life.

I remember back to when I was dating.  I was a business owner with a clothing boutique and someone who likes to make plans in advance.  So my now husband had to be a patient (and persistent) man-since he almost didn’t ask me out for a second date because it would be a month later!   I can’t remember what it was, but being a boutique owner, I had to go to New York for buying trips.  Since I have family up there- I would combine it with a visit to my family.   My husband perceived me as being too busy for a relationship!  Luckily he did ask me out again and it is what we call history!

I became aware of people who I called “activity-oriented” people.  They travel from activity to activity such as a bike ride to a concert to a swing dance.  I was guilty of being that kind of person.   However, the difference was, I was willing to forgo these activities for a date or a chance to be with people I care about.  That is what I call “relationship focused”.  This is one of my biggest advice for dating- MAKE TIME!

Is it difficult to get a date with you?  Do you over plan your weekends?  Can you give your time and attention to being available to date?

This inquiring relationship coach wants to know your answers to these relationship questions and any comments you may have on this subject.
