If you’ve been working hard all year, you’ve probably been looking forward to a summer vacation. And if you’re single and looking for lasting love, your summer vacation can be more than taking time to rest.

Some singles find themselves burnt out by dating apps and bar mixers. They’re ready for something different, something more in line with their values and interests, something exciting. 

For those singles, combining their search efforts with vacation plans is a no-brainer. It’s not just fun, but also a strategic use of their time off. 

However, there is some risk involved when traveling with strangers. Travel can be pricey, and new experiences don’t come with guarantees. So, how do you know if booking a solo or singles vacation is right for you? 

A Singles Vacation May Be Right for You If…

Before you book the trip, ask yourself whether this kind of experience truly fits your personality, your season of life, and your relationship goals. 

Quiz yourself:

• Are you adventurous, or at least wanting to step outside your comfort zone?
• Do you place a high value on new experiences?
• Do you enjoy traveling as part of your rest and renewal?
• Do you love learning new things, seeing new places, or experiencing different cultures?
• Do you enjoy mingling and meeting new people, even if it takes you a little time to warm up?
• Are you willing to participate in group activities instead of going off on your own?
• Do you enjoy meeting new people and making new friends?
• Are you emotionally available enough to enjoy the experience, no matter what the outcome?

Your Results

• Mostly “Yes!”: Singles vacations might be a great new adventure for you!
  
• “Maybe, if…”: Keep exploring the idea and also consider starting smaller. Look into weekend events, Meetup Group activities, or interest-based local trips.
  
• Lots of “No, thank you!”: Singles vacations are probably not the best dating strategy for your personality right now, and that’s okay!

Look for the Right Kind of Singles Travel Group

There are so many ways to travel with other singles. From international cruises to boutique safaris, resorts to domestic weekenders, if you have an interest, there is probably a group for you! 

First, decide in advance if you’re looking for a “singles” trip or a “solo” trip. 

Hosted singles travel trips cater specifically to singles who don’t want to travel by themselves and desire to meet a love interest. These trips often involve pre-planned mixers, get-to-know-you events, and fun themed nights where singles can get a feel for one another. 

Keep in mind, though, that there is no guarantee that these singles are looking for lasting love. Some might just be hoping for a vacation romance. 

Solo travel trips, however, focus on providing safe and exciting vacations to individuals who don’t want to travel alone. These individuals aren’t necessarily looking for love, and you don’t have to be single to go. However, the solo travelers on these trips highly value exploration, travel, and adventure. So if you share these values, you might meet some lovely like-minded people and make life-long friends.

Next, take into account your status and stage of life. 

How active do you want to be on your vacation? 

• Do you love walking tours and exploring ruins or waterfalls? Or would you prefer trips that are a little less strenuous, transporting you from site to site?
• Do you want your days filled with adventure, or would you rather have more time to get to know your companions? 
• Do you love learning and exploring at your own pace, or would you find more enjoyment with guided tours?

You also need to make sure the vacation you’re booking caters to the kind of singles you want to meet.  

For example, if you’re in your 40s and looking for someone to settle down with, a 20-something party cruise is probably not what you’re looking for. There are even travel groups that cater to seniors, too!

Finally, where do you want to go and what do you want to do?

Choose to Cruise

One of the more iconic singles vacation options is the Singles Cruise. Organizations like SinglesCruise.com and Vacations to Go have perfected the singles and solo cruise experience. Groups like these usually offer a variety of dates and locations, with reasonable cruising prices. 

Pricing is usually based on pairing you up with another solo traveler in a shared room, but for a bit more money, you can choose to room by yourself. This is especially helpful for those who need quiet to recharge after a day of people. Extroverts, however, may love having a built-in travel buddy! 

Travel the World

International excursions are the way to go for those desiring true adventure, activity, and culture. Travel companies like Best Single Travel, Solos Holiday, Singles Travel International, or Amazing Journeys (for our Jewish friends), curate fantastic adventures, catering to singles and solos of various ages and stages. 

From backpacking in the Andes to wine adventures in France, there is plenty to do with other like-minded singles around the world. 

Domestic Bliss

If you’re looking to stay a little closer to home, resorts and high-tourist locations often have dates booked for singles events, weekends, and trips. If you have a specific location in mind, check in with a Travel Agent about singles vacations to those locations. Yes, Travel Agents still exist, and they want to help you!

Vacation Wisely and with Openness

Remember that “risk” I mentioned earlier? This is where it comes into play. 

There is no guarantee that you’ll find love when traveling with singles groups. It’s important to go into it with an open mind and a guarded heart. 

If your mind is set on finding the love of your life while on vacation, you may try to force a romance that isn’t ultimately right for you or be easy prey for someone looking for a holiday fling. 

Instead, expect to have fun, to learn, grow, explore, and make new friends. Enjoy culture, experience, and adventure. 

Look for the best in the people you meet, but also guard your heart from those singles who may not be looking for the same thing as you. 

And if along the way you meet another single who has romantic potential, then you’ll consider it a blessing on top of an already great vacation.

One final caution: when looking into and booking your trip, make sure the singles travel group is legit. You want to see that they have plenty of trips in the works, that they’ve got an active website or social media presence, and that there’s an actual human you can speak to if you have any questions. Look for online reviews and double-check their refund policies, should something go wrong. 

Traveling with singles groups for your summer (or anytime) vacation is an exciting way to breathe new life into your current dating plan. 

All in all, strive to have fun, widen your circle of friends, and who knows, someone special may be in the seat next to you!
