Believe it or not, it’s almost “that time” of the year again. Stores are already stocking their shelves with holiday fare, from pumpkin orange to Christmas red and green. As you prepare for all the togetherness that defines this special season, are you also preparing to meet your true love?
Perhaps the summer months kept you active with family, friends, and warm-weather fun.
That’s ok, there’s still time to meet your true love!
Activity and social groups like Meetup have become creative in finding ways to come together in person again, making that connection easier.
My DMV Seriously Searching Singles group even met in person recently. (If you live in the DC Metro area, we would love for you to join us, or check out one of my other 13 Meetup groups nationwide)
As you enjoyed the playfulness of summer, did you ever wonder how meeting your true love could make it even more meaningful? How would you enjoy looking back and remembering these months of travel, hiking, swimming, visiting, and just “being” if you had shared them with someone special?
Personally, I had the opportunity to visit my family in Long Island – one of the highlights of my summer. Interestingly, my own marriage brings so much awareness to and appreciation for the value of family. My experience now vs. my experience when I was in the process of finding true love is more alive, grounded, and enjoyable.
And I’m sure that has to do with the fact that my husband and I found one another through focused intention. We knew that marriage and family were our goals, so we both made a concerted effort to meet our forever life partner when dating.
As September heralds a return to school and the anticipation of “settling in” for the approaching winter, what are you anticipating? Is meeting your true love this fall part of your plan?
How does dating fit into this feeling of settling down? Is it time for you to get more serious about meeting your true love?
If it is time for you to get more serious about finding true love, what would that look like for you?
- Are you ready to set aside more time, be more focused, and create more space for a relationship in your life?
- Would gaining a better understanding of yourself and your relationship needs serve you at this juncture?
- Are you willing to get unstuck and find ways to move forward and become more hopeful again?
- Are you ready to get back online and revise your profile or try another dating site?
- Would you like to discover your best self, rebuild your self-confidence, and learn what you can offer a relationship?
- Are you ready to find events and activities where other marriage-minded singles in your age group are also seriously searching?
- Are you willing to ask the “connectors” in your social network to introduce you to someone appropriate? (Can you succinctly communicate the essence of the person you want to meet?)
These questions are the foundation of a serious dating strategy for a long-term committed relationship. And I’ve been helping my clients answer them for over 16 years.
Take for example Kay, a 40-something executive at a major corporation. She came to coaching because she was recommended by an executive coach colleague who knew that Kay’s top priority was to find a life partner and that I was the perfect coach to help her client find love.
What Kay needed was a little support, guidance, and the belief that she could find a life partner. She was willing to learn and prioritize the process in her life. She had the desire and the sense of adventure to do so. Who would think that after 10 days of coaching, she’d meet her “plus one”, Gary?
For some clients, it can take a few months of coaching to understand their goals and values, refine their dating process, and prioritize the search. But for Kay, when she decided it was time, she got it done! And she knew fairly quickly he was the one because of the values work that we did together. Kay was surprised to see that Gary lined up with all her key relationship values! And he was cute too!
