Springtime Dating Tips: Get out and play!

23 March 2012

Ahhh- Springtime!  Here in DC we are having unusually warm weather, the trees are blooming and at seventy degrees everyone is outside enjoying the mild weather.  This is when we come out of our cocoons (and away from the computers) and get active.  There is so much to see and do- especially in my home town of Washington, DC!

Nonetheless, where can you go to meet marriage minded singles this spring? Here are my dating tips for you:

  1. Join a singles coed sports team like soft ball or bocce ball.
  2. Join a running, hiking or biking group or Meetup
  3. Bring your dog to your local dog parks known as a hangout for single dog owners!
  4. Attend community BBQ’s, and those sponsored by your local Church, Synagogue or faith based organization.  (Even better if they are organized for their singles groups)
  5. Attend your area’s museum’s outdoor cultural events and receptions.  Many museums have an event for a weekday evening after work on a monthly basis.  (i.e., The Phillips Gallery’s Artful Evenings).

Of course one of my key dating tips is for you choose an activity or event that you would enjoy to attend even if there were no love interest there.  Not only would you will be expanding your social network, but you will be expanding upon your interests and could this could ultimately lead you to your true love!   And by joining one of these physically active groups, you may be supporting your personal goals to stay active and fit.

Another one of my helpful dating tips is to find a group or activity where you can see the same people again and again to start building a rapport and get to know people over time.  The first time you may see someone and not get a chance to really talk with them.  The second time the group is meeting you now have a reason to talk to someone because of the last event or activity you attended.  You become familiar and one of them!

So what are your plans to getting out and meeting new people this spring? How can you support your values, personal interests AND be in a place to meet other marriage minded individuals?

This curious coach would like to know!

Warm Wishes,

Coach Amy
