\"\"<\/a>One of my clients that I have been working with for about 9 months is a very motivated, beautiful and accomplished woman in her mid-thirties. She is also a seeker of knowledge.<\/p>\n

She told me in our last session that she has been working through another dating coaches’ online program and considered becoming part of his coaching group. In order to do so, she had to have a 30-minute session with him first. In that session with my client, several key issues were brought to her attention that made her not a good candidate for this coaches’ program. It was assessed that she lives in a difficult place to meet enough eligible men to date (she lives on an island in the Caribbean) and that she does not spend enough time per week devoted to online dating. This was a wake up call for her.<\/p>\n

My initial thought was, “Wait, this is what I have been telling you all along!” However, as a coach, we are trained to self-manage our thoughts and focus on what the client needs in that moment. Instead of being scared of losing a client, I looked at this as a coaching opportunity.<\/p>\n

First, if his materials got her motivated to re-think where she is and what she is doing to meet the one, then I’m all for it. I am not the only dating coach (or consultant) on the internet! Second, timing is everything. You have to be open and ready to hear certain things. Or at least she has to be ready to consider change. As it turns out, this client had not taken advantage of much of my coaching programs that I have as online learning materials.<\/p>\n

Last, if a client feels better served by someone else, or there is a better fit, then by all means, let’s part ways.<\/p>\n

As it turned out, from this new place, we revised our dating strategy for her. It ended up being a very productive coaching session for her. I feel more confident that she will meet that special person through her social networks and a new online dating strategy.<\/p>\n

That is what makes life and relationship coaching such a rewarding profession. Not only does it constantly challenge me, it also calls for the coach to keep the focus on the client, her needs and to come up with creative solutions for that client.<\/p>\n

Now my client’s dating blind spots have been identified and we can work together to work around them. She is quite aware that she most likely will have to move within a year’s time to be in a place where she is able to meet more eligible single men in her age group for dating or meet someone through online dating and then she will move because of an engagement!<\/p>\n
