I was recently on my local TV station\u2019s mid day magazine program on the subject of breaking up.\u00a0 They wanted my
\nrelationship advice on a recent Men\u2019s Health article (http:\/\/lifestyle.msn.com\/relationships\/articlemh.aspx?cp-documentid=19187764<\/a> )
\nabout who is breaking up harder for \u2013 men or women?\u00a0\u00a0 I started thinking and researching this relationship question and this is what I concluded\u2026<\/p>\n

A lot depends on several factors such as the age of the person.\u00a0 When we are young, we may not have a good sense
\nof self.\u00a0 We don\u2019t have much experience with love relationships and breakups.\u00a0 We fall heavily into love and our
\nemotions run strong.\u00a0 So when we break up in our fragile 20\u2019s, it hits us harder.\u00a0 One of my client\u2019s son\u2019s girl
\nfriend broke up with him.\u00a0 He was devastated.\u00a0 He thought she was the one.\u00a0 It turns out she wasn\u2019t ready for a
\nserious relationship commitment.\u00a0 He didn\u2019t have the perspective to see that this may have been for the best for
\nboth of them at this stage of their life.\u00a0 In time he will move on and meet someone who wants what he wants.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For those women in the mid to late thirties and early forties, a break up may hit really hard.\u00a0 I had a client who
\ncame to me after a horrible breakup.\u00a0 She had been dating a guy for two years and was expecting a marriage proposal.
\n\u00a0 Instead, the boyfriend broke up with her.\u00a0 Here she had a disappointed dream of happily ever after.\u00a0 She really
\nwanted a family too and her time was running out.\u00a0\u00a0 I think breaking up is very hard for women in this age group,
\nespecially if they want to still have a family.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
