To relationship-focused people, being part of a couple is the most natural way to live. They may be fine on their own, but they prefer to be in a relationship. They choose <\/em>the coupled life over the single life.<\/p>\n

You may assume that every single person wants to be in a committed relationship. Isn\u2019t love what we\u2019re all here for?<\/em><\/p>\n

\"Couple<\/a><\/p>\n

However — surprise! — not every single person is searching for love (at least not in the form of a romantic, committed relationship). Some people simply aren\u2019t relationship-focused, and they avoid committed relationships altogether.<\/p>\n

And there\u2019s nothing wrong with that. This isn\u2019t about judgment. It\u2019s about choice.<\/em><\/p>\n

Unless you come from a tradition of arranged marriages, being in a relationship is a choice that you <\/em>make for your <\/em>life.<\/p>\n

So how do you know you’re truly relationship-focused?<\/h2>\n

When I talk with potential clients, I listen for specific indications that they are marriage-minded<\/a> — or at least ready for a committed relationship.<\/p>\n

Which of the following relationship-focused signs are true for you?<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. You envision yourself as part of a couple. You can’t imagine not being in a relationship or having a life partner. Being coupled is who you are and how you see yourself.<\/li>\n
  2. You\u2019re hopeful that there is someone out there for you. You have a positive outlook about relationships and are a hopeless romantic.<\/li>\n
  3. It\u2019s rare that you aren\u2019t in a relationship. If one relationship ends, you don\u2019t give up on love or waste time feeling sorry for yourself. Being in a couple is your preference, so you usually have a steady mate in your life.<\/li>\n
  4. You surround yourself with positive, encouraging people who support your goal of having a significant other. You’ve got coupled friends. You insulate yourself from people who try to make you feel badly for pursuing a relationship.<\/li>\n
  5. You seek to learn and grow as a person with the support of a coach, counselor, or group. You’re open to learning the relationship skills you need to have a successful, loving partnership.<\/li>\n
  6. You’re willing to go outside your comfort zone and try something new to meet your life partner. Trying a new online dating site, exploring a new group, or going on a blind date are risks you’re willing to take in your pursuit of true love.<\/li>\n
  7. You’re ready to take action to find your life partner. Enough of just talking about it! You’re doing what it takes to meet that person. You’re exploring all the avenues available to meet eligible, quality people who are also looking for a life partner.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In other words, being a relationship-focused person means you are very proactive.<\/h2>\n

    You\u2019re willing to invest in learning about yourself and how to be the best you can be in a relationship.<\/p>\n

    Personally, I never saw myself not <\/em>being married. I knew that I would meet my life partner, even after a devastating divorce.<\/p>\n

    I never gave up hope.<\/strong> So, I joined a coaching group to gain greater knowledge and support. And then I partnered with my relationship coach to work through my own blind spots.<\/p>\n

    I expanded my social group. And I met people through activities and events that put me in a position to meet eligible men who were also motivated to marry.<\/p>\n

    I joined a co-ed bowling league, went to tennis parties, and even tried speed dating. Singles’ trips, biking weekends, and singles events? I was there. I also answered classified ads and dated online. There was no stone that I left unturned.<\/p>\n

    And I did all this while also running a business.<\/p>\n

    I ended up meeting my husband Alan at one of those singles\u2019 events. And, thanks to my coach, who helped me see Alan as \u201cthe one,\u201d didn\u2019t weed him out immediately as I did with other guys.<\/p>\n

    We have now been married for over 19 years!<\/p>\n

    Clearly, I was motivated!<\/p>\n
