And this year seems especially difficult given the Pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps you will be spending the holidays with your family in town as you do every year. But this year you&#8217;ve had to stay socially distanced.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"https:\/\/motivatedtomarry.com\/stage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/dreamstime_m_201859538.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3208 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/motivatedtomarry.com\/stage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/dreamstime_m_201859538.jpg\" alt=\"Woman in a Santa hat toasting her Zoom date.\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Or maybe you&#8217;re used to traveling to be with your family or close friends. And this year Christmas and Hanukkah is a Zoom event!<\/p>\n<p>So how can you make the holidays fulfilling despite being mostly on your own this year?<\/p>\n<h2>Below I&#8217;ve put together some suggestions for you to make this holiday season one of joy and appreciation for those special people in your life. And also, for being proactive about meeting that special person in the coming months.<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Pull together a game night with your friends! (And friends of friends to expand your social network.) You can play word games such as Cards Against Humanity (the clean version or the dirty one!).<\/li>\n<li>Watch some classic holiday movies &#8211;\u00a0<em>A White Christmas, It&#8217;s A Wonderful Life<\/em>, and for fun you can watch\u00a0<em>Daddy&#8217;s Home\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em><em>Elf.<\/em><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Bake your favorite holiday cookies and deliver or send them to your besties or family members.<\/li>\n<li>Meet a friend and stroll through the local holiday light show. Pack some hot chocolate in a thermos. (Separate thermos for each person, of course!)<\/li>\n<li>Plan a Zoom holiday party with a theme with your close friends. Have egg nog and pecan pie! Consider an ugly sweater theme!<\/li>\n<li>Try attending an online speed dating event. You never know who you may meet.<\/li>\n<li>Get yourself on a new online dating site or app and start communicating with several new prospects.<\/li>\n<li>Get in your car and go for a drive to see the holiday decorations in your neighborhood. Perhaps you can caravan with your friends and vote for the best house decorations.<\/li>\n<li>Meet a friend at an outdoor skating rink. (A great first real date for those who are comfortable on skates.)<\/li>\n<li>Visit an outdoor shopping center to get your shopping done.<\/li>\n<li>Create a Secret Santa event. Pick names and send or deliver a wrapped gift of an agreed value. Then do a big reveal event on Zoom.<\/li>\n<li>Host a Zoom Caroling Party and invite your neighbors to attend! You never know who lives down the street from you!<\/li>\n<li>Donate your time to a local charity or food bank. Feel good by helping others in need. Collect unwrapped toys for kids in need or extra food to donate to families.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>As you consider this list, the questions to ask yourself are, &#8220;How do you want the holidays to be for you?&#8221; and &#8220;When you look back, how do you want to remember the end of 2020?&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>Without a doubt, this year has tested us all.
