{"id":253,"date":"2011-04-21T11:32:11","date_gmt":"2011-04-21T15:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/motivatedtomarry.com\/stage\/?p=253"},"modified":"2011-04-21T11:33:27","modified_gmt":"2011-04-21T15:33:27","slug":"relationship-advice-for-marriage-minded-singles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/motivatedtomarry.com\/stage\/relationship-advice-for-marriage-minded-singles\/","title":{"rendered":"Relationship advice for marriage minded singles:  be willing to declare yourself as such!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marriage minded singles have a real problem.\u00a0 They are outnumbered by those singles that are not marriage-minded.\u00a0 If you talk to several of your single friends, colleagues and relatives about their desire to find a marriage partner, you will get one of these responses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Her face will turn red and she will sheepishly say,<br \/>\n\u201cWell, it would be nice, but\u2026.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>He will laugh and say, \u201cThat\u2019s not for me!\u201d<\/li>\n<li>She will sigh and say, \u201cI guess it\u2019s not in the cards,<br \/>\nbesides, my life is full just as is\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I remembered helping out at a singles event in the DC area a couple years back, before my book, <em>Motivated to Marry<\/em> came out.\u00a0 The host was gracious to let me market my services and do some research for my book by having them fill out the <em>Are You Motivated to Marry?<\/em> quiz.\u00a0 Many of these 30 Something women were horrified when I walked up to them with my clip board.\u00a0 They wish I would disappear because they did not want to appear marriage minded in front of their girlfriends and the guys in their vicinity of the conversation! It\u2019s as if to appear Marriage Minded is a taboo subject.\u00a0\u00a0 I could see in their faces their pleading eyes, \u201cPlease get away from me, I don\u2019t want anyone to see that I am a marriage minded single\u201d.\u00a0 Needless to say, I didn\u2019t get many people filling out my quiz that evening!<\/p>\n<p>Another incident I remember for after I had my new book published was when I saw a bunch of my single 40 something guy pals when I\u00a0 standing around at a strip center waiting for another guy to pick them up to go to a ball game.\u00a0 I had some copies of <em>Motivated to Marry<\/em> in my handbag.\u00a0 Proudly, I showed them my book.<\/p>\n<p>Being a bunch of guys, they made fun of the title.\u00a0 One friend said, \u201cNope, I am not motivated, are you?\u201d\u00a0 The other quipped, \u201cNo way!\u00a0 I think Henry definitely is though.\u201d\u00a0 They took a look at the book and leafed through it as a courtesy, however, they really showed no interest.\u00a0 On a note, this incident has to be about six years ago, and none of these men are married!<\/p>\n<p>There are two points to this story:<\/p>\n<p>First, some people are scared to admit to others that they are truly marriage minded when dating.\u00a0 They believe it will reflect poorly on them and make them seem desperate, as well as undesirable.\u00a0 Second, some people are truly NOT interested in getting married.\u00a0 You need to respect that and move on if you if finding a marriage partner is your main focus in dating.<\/p>\n<p>So the marriage minded singles dating universe is a much smaller piece of the total singles you will meet out there.\u00a0 Are you truly willing to announce to the world that you are among the marriage minded singles?\u00a0 And how will your dating change after reading this post?\u00a0 This inquiring coach would like to know!
