Last night I gave my “7 Secrets to Getting Love Right” class Downtown DC.\u00a0 We had a nice group of ten people.\u00a0\u00a0It seemed like they got into the subject, I held their attention and I got\u00a0smiles and good physical feedback – nods, smiles and I saw many were taking lots of notes!\u00a0<\/p>\n
I gave a feedback form at the end of the class to get information on how to improve the class and to see my participants reaction.\u00a0 I take that feedback to heart.\u00a0\u00a0 I got lots of Goods <\/em>and Excellents<\/em> with great comments like “good energy” and “practical, helpful information”.\u00a0 However, there was one person who gave me a Fair <\/em>and gave me some constructive criticism although I really didn’t understand what was missing for her.\u00a0\u00a0 So why do I care so much and have a desire to try win her over and please her?\u00a0 Why does her comments matter to\u00a0me?<\/p>\n I had many who were\u00a0extremely pleased\u00a0with the class and are interested in\u00a0continuing the conversation.\u00a0 Why do I focus on those who seem to not really like me (or my materials)?\u00a0<\/p>\n Do you find yourself in this situation?\u00a0 You meet someone and you have very pleasant conversation.\u00a0You think it will go somewhere and the person doesn’t call\u00a0\u00a0 You dwell on it. Okay, some obsess over the fact that this person doesn’t really like you enough to call for a second date.\u00a0 It hurts!\u00a0 The funny thing is initially you were not really interested in dating that person.\u00a0 You have the inclination (and you know better not to!) to get in touch with that person to find out what didn\\’t work for them.\u00a0 Perhaps\u00a0“He really\u00a0didn’t see the real me”, is what you tell\u00a0yourself.\u00a0<\/p>\n Why not just let go and focus on those people who have shown interest in you.\u00a0 No, that would be too easy.\u00a0 We have to struggle to make someone who doesn’t like us change their mind.\u00a0 Isn’t that ludicrous?\u00a0Instead, \u00a0I put her feedback form on the bottom of the pile and\u00a0am determined to focus\u00a0on those\u00a0participants who\u00a0gave me a favorable rating and put them on the top of the pile of feedback forms.\u00a0<\/p>\n My dating advice to you is to focus on those people who are thrilled to be in your company.\u00a0 Those are the people that matter.\u00a0 Forget those who\u00a0have not responded positively to you.\u00a0 You know the saying, “You can’t please all the people all of the\u00a0 time” — how true that is!\u00a0<\/p>\n The way I look at my class is like a bell curve- on the far left end are people who absolutely love me, and the far right end is those who do not\u00a0like me at all.\u00a0 Then there is a big group of people\u00a0in the middle who like me\u00a0just okay.\u00a0 So where on the bell curve are you putting your emotional energy?\u00a0 Are you working hard to impress someone who really does not\u00a0really care about you?\u00a0 Please chime in!\u00a0 — Coach Amy<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Last night I gave my “7 Secrets to Getting Love Right” class Downtown DC.\u00a0 We had a nice group of ten people.\u00a0\u00a0It seemed like they got into the subject, I held their attention and I got\u00a0smiles and good physical feedback – nods, smiles and I saw many were taking lots of notes!\u00a0 I gave a […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[44],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"\n
