This year Valentine’s Day lands on a Saturday.  So if you are single, perhaps not only do you not have a date for Saturday evening, you also don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day Evening- that’s a double whammy!   So what do you normally do on a Saturday evening?  I hope you are not saying, “I stay home and wash my hair!”

Make plans with your friends to have a fun evening out.  I find it helps to be actively involved so you won’t think of what you don’t have.
You can find a venue that has a good band, go dancing or even go bowling!   Or if that’s not your cup of tea, then you can go to a movie that you were dying to see.   Personally, I recommend a good action or drama film over a romantic comedy for this evening!

If you don’t want to go out and see all the love birds cooing at each other, what about having a dinner party at your home.  You can have a potluck dinner so you don’t have to do all the work.  Make sure people bring decadent deserts.   Try to have your friends bring a friend so you get to meet new people!  You can play board games or arrange a poker game.

So you don’t have to dread Valentine’s Day Evening.   Lean on your single friends who are in the same boat as you.   You will have a more enjoyable evening than staying home and washing your hair and seeing Friends reruns!

So what plans are you going to make for next weekend if you are not in a serious relationship?  How do you want to make sure you are in a supportive environment on Valentine’s Day?
