In the last blog post my relationship help was about some low cost options to take a date when you are dating on a budget. However, what if you haven’t met any people to date yet? Where do you go to meet men or women to date in the first place if you are watching your pennies? How do you not blow your discretionary budget trying to meet “the one”?
My dating advice is much depends on what you like to do and what feels comfortable for you. If you are athletic, there are many lower cost options. I met men to date on a bowling league, a volley ball league, a single’s biking group (that’s where I met my husband), tennis parties, and hiking groups. These are good places to meet men who like to be active and are socially oriented.
I was a member of the Washington DC Ski Club. They had many more activities than skiing. Besides ski trips, the club is really a social group with happy hours, cultural activities, tennis parties, hikes, and even a crab fest! Another great place to meet singles is dancing! I took a series of group lessons through the ski club which can be very reasonable. Most area dances I attended cost $12 or less and included a lesson. There you can meet other people who also enjoy dancing. This was one of my favorite pastimes when I was single. There are many great ski clubs throughout the US. (Women, this is a great way to meet men!)
I also enjoyed going to sports bars during major playoffs (if you really like the particular sport and or team). I enjoy college basketball and watched the major games (Go Blue Devils!) at sports bars where there were plenty of men doing the same. I was bold and wore my Duke sweatshirt in a mostly University of Maryland territory. A nice gentleman came to my rescue when I was being harassed by some obnoxious Maryland fans. We ended up dating!
If you live in the Washington, DC area, then visit my informational resource website, www.DCDatingInfo.com for listing of groups where you can meet singles. The cost of attending for many of these groups is very reasonable. Or visit www.heartmindconnection.com/free.html for suggestions of social groups that cater to singles in the major US cities.
In my next blog post I will give you dating advice on where to meet people to date if you are not so sports-oriented. So where have you gone to meet people to date for a serious relationship if you are being careful with your money?
